Travel Journal – Nepal Day 4

6 am, I wake up and go back to sleep. 6.30 am, I wake up again and go back to sleep again.

6.45 am, bollocks!!! the driver was suppose to come at 7 am.

Run, rush and get ready. Make something worthwhile from this Pokhra visit. Yesterday I promised to make this day worthwhile. The pre-decided plan is to go to David's Fall - a little ass waterfall somewhere around Pokhra. From there to Bat Caves - I found this place very interesting and had plans to take some long exposures inside the dark caves. Then somewhere around the lake and done with the small trip. After that was my friends paragliding flight somewhere around 12. I got nothing to do but roam around a bit and kill time. That is the sort of plan in mind. Ready, set and out we go.

The driver keeps rolling the car from the narrow lanes and we reached somewhere in the outskirtISH area of Pokhra I guess. He said we reach David's Fall in around 15 mins. Cool. Keep going. Deja Vu. Guess what, a 'bandh' again. Not allowed to go through those roads that lead to David's Fall or bat caves. Their reply is the same, come tomorrow. I am sort of pissed off at this moment, while the driver tries to negotiate with the cops to let go, we are only tourists. But he says its risky and even if he lets us go ahead, we are gonna be stopped at the next crossroad anyway. Won't help moving further to that road. What next ? Driver says, go Sarangkot and if the sky is clear we can see the fish-tail aka Mt Annapurna. Ok then move, no other option.

As we drive through the narrow twisty roads to Sarangkot the view looks lovely but I m a bit out of interest. Then some magic powder is sprinkled, drivers phone rings. The tour operator calls and tells him to hand over the damn phone to me. Hello (Grrrr), hello sir, paragliding one spot available at 10.30. Oh, my grrrr goes away and now I found my lost interest again in the sites around. Paraglide confirmed, sure.

Back to the ground and to the tour operators office. The jeep is waiting to take me back to the same place. This time without my gear. Before that, sign a small form. I call it the death certificate. In short, they are not responsible for any accident while paragliding.

I wanted to add the video but YouTube and Vimeo are stuck on processing for the past 2 days. If ever it comes up, I ll update the post. My flight is done and now just have to wait a couple of hours before heading to the domestic airport.
